Be proud of your work!!!

Can't think of more important thing in any business - to be proud of what you're actually doing. If you make soap - wash your hands with it, if you bake cakes - eat them. Because if you cannot, then this is not Your vocation. There are limits of course, say those making nuclear bombs would like never using them, yet the principle is more about pride than of actual utilization, i.e. - be proud of what you do, or don't do it!

In software engineering the examples of opposite are quite abundant. To me this is a paradox, since from my experience, most of those started programmers are really like it. Unlike many similarly complex professions programmers seem to be naturally born, or selfmade at very early age. So the desire to "Write good programs" ( J.Carmack (c) ) is sort of in the blood. The pride of writing something cool is essential to programmer's existence!.. However here we have things like Clarify CRM, or IBM's RequisitePro, etc... Products that were intended to simplify life not of mere "General users" but the programmers themselves, and yet, those are dysfunctional monsters that weren't ever used by their creators, apparentely, because otherwise they would know better!..
