Intranet portals are useless?..
Interesting phenomenon revealed itself to me earlier this week. I was looking for a tool that facilitates working with Active Directory services using PowerShell. Using "[ADSI]LDAP://.." is just not right, taking into account the list-oriented nature of PowerShell, and the single company behind both technologies. Anyway, I found what I was looking for - an excellent free library: http://www.quest.com/powershell/activeroles-server.aspx. The interesting thing is that this library is from my own company!.. Indeed it is somewhere in our intranet, etc. But I only came across it via Internet. Which leads me to conclude, that investments in intranet portals are almost useless. It is much more effective to make accessible company's information over internet. Of course there are some information that is critical for business, and must not be made public, but such documents rarely published on intranet portals anyway, rather they get sent across using old-fashioned e-mail, etc.
