Hacking mythology

Joseph Campbell - a famous mythologist - believed that mythology played a crucial life in development of human civilization. Basically, his idea was that the mythology was the instrument of understanding the outside world when there was neither science, nor even religion yet. And, of course, such primitive mechanism was used each time the more complex ones - science, or religion - did not catch up.
And there is always two parts in any mythology.
First is about material world - the myth of creation, the second is the tale of heroes - the story of tradition.
So here is the myth of creation for the software industry: "The Art of Unix Programming", and here is the tale of heroes: "Hackers, Heroes of the Computer Revolution".
